Free Mondays!

Great free music every Monday night!

February 22 - Superfrog

Six handsome gentlemen. One mission. Take over the planet with rock-jamtasticality. What is rock-jamtasticality? It is a way of life. It is a fusion of rock and jam, a sensory overload of pure thrash goodness. These boys live it to a T, vaulting into the local scene and challenging the populace to spend their evenings expanding their minds; twisting, swaying, dancing, and even, at times, frolicking. Superfrog is now poised for a serious spreading of its musical tentacles. Taking over Portland, Boston and NYC will be a mere stepping stone for this grooving six man party-bus.

March 1 - Baby Brain Waves

March 8 - Gnarlemagne

Gnarlemagne is a funk-rock outfit with a raucously uptempo style and loud, tenacious horn lines. As reminiscent of Otis Redding as they are of Jimi Hendrix, Gnarlemagne will get you out on the floor and make you dance all night!

March 15 - Garlic and Moonshine with Danielle Doyle

Garlic & Moonshine developed roots in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts when long-time friends and collaborators came together in January 2009 to record their debut album In Waves (to be released in February 2010). Their sound is a stylistic array grounded in creative songwriting and strong musicianship. In Waves is at times playful and bouncy, at others sparse and introspective. The trio loves performing, which shows in their good humor and high energy. With just three members, Garlic & Moonshine's is a substantial sound sometimes ambient, sometimes two-stepping, sometimes infectiously groovy.

March 22 - Secret Army

27-year-old musician Danny Bedrosian is the current keyboardist for George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars, as well as a half a dozen other bands around the nation and the world. Bedrosian is the lead vocalist, keyboardist, producer, chief songwriter, arranger and publisher for Secret Army. This band is a patchwork of genres, races, ethnicities, genders, and spiritual creeds under one unifying musical force.

Also at the fore of the band is Parliament-Funkadelic/P-Funk All Stars stalwarts Dewayne Blackbyrd McKnight on lead guitar, and Lige Curry on Bass Guitar. Mcknight also was a member of Herbie Hancock's, Headhunters, as well as onetime guitarist for Miles Davis and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. He also resides as the current Musical Director for George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars. Bassist Lige Curry is a longtime P-Funk bassist, vocalist, writer, and all around contributor whose songwriting talents grace most of Secret Army's repertoire as well.

The solid bedrock of two drummers make up the Secret Army's percussion section, both Rico Lewis, who is George Clinton and The P-Funk All-Stars' main drummer, lending a pound of foot to the all pervading mix of Funk, Ethnic Middle Eastern music, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, and proto classical movements. The Guitar section is continually rounded up by German-born, Boston bred virtuoso guitarist Marc Munoz, as well as the talented Guitarist from the Soular System, Mike Maloney.

Additional vocals are handled by the extremely talented jazz vocalist Teresa Jimenez, and the elusive Alaskan folk singer Moon Child. Secret Army is quickly proving its own innovative brand of alternative music, thus lending an important commentary on the state of unity in our world. The hypnotic musical journey, both endearing and baffling, will leave the listeners in endless delight at the new sounds. Secret Army is finally polished with the animation and cartoons of artist Nathan Boucher, who brings an especially unique attention to detail and shimmering colors.

Secret Army also serves up a potentially marketable sound, with a youthful energy important to its image and its sound that is virtually unmistakable. This band has a sound and look that one will never forget; don't miss out on Secret Army.
